Review & Giveaway: Papillon by A.N. Kang

Meet Papillon, the world's fluffiest kitty - so fluffy, in fact, that he floats through life as he discovers the world.

I read this book with my three year old niece who was immediately drawn in by the kitty on the front. She loved flipping through the pages and reading about Papillon as he discovered the world - much like she does every day (albeit without floating). Kids can relate the Papillon's adventures and sense of wonder. The pictures are cute and engaging, not overwhelming and cluttered.

PAPILLON is a fantastic book for little ones that teaches the joys of the discovering the world and the value of coming home to where you're loved at the end of the day.

ABOUT PAPILLON:
Papillon is a very fluffy kitty. So fluffy that he's lighter than air! His owner tries to weigh him down, but Papillon just wants to fly.

One particularly sunny day, he floats right out the window! Exploring the wide world is exhilarating, but it's also a little scary. Will his new friend, a bird, be able to help him find his way home?

Whimsical art and airy text come together seamlessly in this delightful debut by A. N. Kang.

Review: Penguin Problems

Title: Penguin Problems
Author: Jory John
Publication Date: 9/27/2016
Source: ARC from publisher
Purchase: Amazon

Rating:

Summary (from Goodreads):
Have you ever considered running away to Antarctica? Of course you have! Because it’s a land free of worries and responsibilities! All of your problems will surely be blown away by the icy winds of that lawless paradise! . . . Won’t they?

Think again, my friend. This penguin has come to tell you that his life down there is no more a picnic than yours is here. For starters, it is FREEZING. Also, penguins have a ton of natural predators. Plus, can you imagine trying to find your mom in a big ol’ crowd of identical penguins? No, thank you.

Yes, it seems there is no escaping the drudgery of your daily grind, whatever it might be. Or perhaps we’ve just learned that grumps are everywhere. . . .

Review:
PENGUIN PROBLEMS might just be the cutest book I've ever gotten my hands on. The adventures of this woefully disappointed penguin as he encounters many day-to-day problems made me smile. We've all been there - we all have problems and issues, but penguin's particular kind of morose made me giggle (and the 3 year old I was reading to laugh hysterically).

The best part is when a friend pulls Penguin aside to show him all the good he has in his life. And even though Penguin has problems, he is still loved and needed and wanted. What an amazing message for children (and adults).

Full of vivid and fun images, you'll definitely adore Penguin. OK, and the kids in your life will likely love him, too.

Filled with cute illustrations, HOW TO BEHAVE AT A DOG SHOW is a books adults and children will both love. Julia and Charles try to enter their dog Rexie into a local dog show with disastrous and hilarious results. In the end, if you can't beat 'em, make your own competition and do it your way.

Bizzy Bear: Zookeeper

by  (Illustrations)
Publisher: Schwarz & Wade
Format: Finished copy from publisher
BIZZY BEAR ZOOKEEPER is a fun, interactive board book that you and your toddler will love exploring together. Rich with illustrations there is something to touch and move on every page which will fascinate young readers. Little ones will love helping Bizzy Bear out at the zoo.

Beep Beep, Go to Sleep

by  (Illustrator)
BEEP BEEP GO TO SLEEP is a sweet story of a little boy putting his robots to bed ... But they won't seem to stay in bed. (sound familiar parents?) Over the course of the book, the robots cause a little chaos and mischief until finally their boy gets them settled and they all go to sleep. Perhaps having a child who fights sleep might benefit from putting a few toys of their own through the bedtime process.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Classic Dr. Seuss

ABOUT WHAT PET SHOULD I GET?
In the Fall of 2013, an original manuscript with accompanying sketches by DrSeuss, aka Ted Geisel, was discovered in the La Jolla, California home of the late beloved children’s author. That complete manuscript was for the picture book, WHAT PET SHOULD I GET?, and will be published by Random House Children’s Books on July 28, 2015. It is the first original new DrSeuss book since the publication of the last book of DrSeuss’s career, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! in 1990. WHAT PET SHOULD I GET? captures the excitement of a classic childhood moment—choosing a pet—and features the brother and sister characters that DrSeuss drew inOne Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

ABOUT DRSEUSS
Theodor “Seuss” Geisel is one of the most beloved children’s book authors of all time. His long list of awards includes Caldecott Honors for McElligot’s PoolIf I Ran the Zoo, and Bartholomew and the Oobleck, the Pulitzer Prize, and eight honorary doctorates. Works based on his original stories have won three Oscars, three Emmys, three Grammys and a Peabody. Geisel wrote and illustrated 45 books during his lifetime, and his books have sold more than 650 million copies worldwide. Though Theodor Geisel died on September 24, 1991, DrSeuss lives on, inspiring generations of children of all ages to explore the joys of reading. About Dr. Seuss's ABCs:
Arguably the most entertaining alphabet book ever written, this classic Beginner Book by Dr. Seuss is perfect for children learning their ABCs. Featuring a fantastic cast of zany characters—from Aunt Annie’s alligator to the Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz, with a lazy lion licking a lollipop and an ostrich oiling an orange owl—Dr. Seuss’s ABC is a must-have for every young child’s library.

Originally created by Dr. Seuss, Beginner Books encourage children to read all by themselves, with simple words and illustrations that give clues to their meaning.

Review:
I grew up on Dr. Seuss tales. An avid reader since the beginning, I could always be found with a book in hand as a kid (or a picture book). Revisiting Dr. Seuss's ABCs was a great way to reacquaint myself with his memorable works.

I snatched up my 2 1/2 year old niece for this and read the book to her. She already has a love of books and cuddle in my lap, helping me turn pages and point out letters and animals. When we reached the end, she was ready to start again.

That's the power of Seuss; these books transcend one generation and can be enjoyed by all for years to come.
